I tried downloading several user made custom libraries but can't find a PCB representation of an 8 pin Op Amp that is 0.3" wide and 0.1" pin spacing on each side. I'm not sure how to draw a custom symbol for the Op Amp rectangle that would go in between the 8 pads. Is there anyone using ExpressPCB that has something I could use or explain how to create one?

You mean just a Dual op amp?
There are some in the expressPCB library.
They are .4 wide though as is standard.

No not those little tiny ones. Like a LM741CN IC for example, which pin-wise on a 0.1" grid spacing would occupy a 4x3 grid spaces on the PCB, complete with the 8 pads with drill holes. If you also use DIY Layout Creator for comparison you see how an 8-pin IC chip looks on the PCB over 8 pads.

Do you mean you want a square drawn around the outside of all the pads?

Open or restart ExpressPCB. Open up the Component Manager, click Custom Components, look for DIP-8 - standard.

If you're not doing it for yourself, it's not DIY. ;)

Hello,
Just open up the Component Manager and click on 'find' and then type in dip and you'll get sockets from 4pins on up with the spacing you want. If you want to modify the component (i make bigger pads and smaller holes for all my components), highlight it, open up the Components and click on Ungroup PCB Component. From there you can make any changes you want, don't forget to number any pads,  you then highlite all the parts of your customized component, open up Components again and click on "Group to make PCB component. Then save it to your custom library.

Thanks! Yeah the socket is nice too. Actually part of this is my bad. I mistakenly assumed the "DIP" items were DIP switches, LOL.
