Hello,

I'm finishing up another ruby amp. I thought I had a J201 laying around but all I have is a 2N5457...will this work as a substitute?

Yeah I dont see why not.
Completed builds: BSIAB2
Pedals to build: Dr.Boogey, TS-808

It's actually prefferable (as long as you want more output) according to the ROG site than the J201 and offers simmilar results to the MPF102 which is suggested http://www.runoffgroove.com/ruby.html

I believe that a page containing a schematic, project write-up, possible mods, and perf/PCB layouts is about as user-friendly as possible.

Maybe you have something in mind you'd like to share?

BTW, I love the site...Im not talking any smack

But sure, the PCB layout links can be easy to miss...

It would also have been nice back when I was first starting out to have a "how-to" on how to resize the PCB layouts properly.

We've asked our PCB layout designers to package the layouts in a PDF to prevent resizing issues.  Is there a specific layout that needed resizing?

I appreciate your feedback on the PCB layout links.

The PDF is awesome...better than any of the other options out there.

Im talking more about a link or something in boldface on the projects page or in the immediate area of the link to tell first time PCB makers not to print it out at the default size...

So are you saying that the layouts do not print at the correct size for you?  This is the first I've ever heard of such an occurrence with our PCB layouts.

Make sure your printer is set to print at 100%. Some printers will want to fit to page by default.
