Is it possible to make an a/b/y that has stereo inputs, that would allow me to
send "left" to channel "a" and "right" to channel "b", and then "y" would send everything out stereo?

Do you want one or two switches? I would think that you could just run a dual mute box with two switches. or is it Stereo in > stereo out A/Stereo out B/Double Stereo out Y? That would take two switches for sure. Perhaps a 4PDT? Don't know for sure, but if you understand how a 3PDT works you should be able to figure it out?

It is possible to make any switching arrangement that you can write down clearly, in detail.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

I appreciate your help R.G.

Here is what I am trying to do with just simple switching... I really dont want to get into buffered splitters, etc...
Let me know if you can think of a way to do it.

If you connect your "L OUT" to the VOX and the "R OUT" to the Marshall you will «send "left" to channel "a" and "right" to channel "b", and then "y" would send everything out stereo». No purple box needed.

The image link doesn't return any image to me - could be a problem with my software shields because the shields report box.net as a malevolent web site.

Why do you say "no purple box needed"?

Hi
If I have understand you correct this is quite simple. Just do as you have drawn with the purple box. Use one 3PDT if you want one LED or else a DPDT
Case A ("A+B" two amps)
Let the L & R signal pass as in the "purple box"
Case B ( "Y" one Amp mono)
With the switch Lift the signal from the tip of the "amp Jack A" and insert it to the tip of "amp jack B" don't forget to let the switch ground the tip of "amp jack A" when switched to "B" or you will have hum from that amp. Amp jack B will now be your "Y jack"
The only bad sounding stomp box is an unbuilt stomp box. ;-)
