Hello guys,

I bring you this schematic, not much to say. Is a workalike CArl MArtin octaswitch. Is not a clone it's build from scratch. Is not tested yet but i will make a protoboard at the end of the month.
Hope you will enjoy it.
I've uploaded a PDF file bc the schematic is way too big.
So here is the link:

Wow! That was massive. I couldn't even find the input  :icon_lol: I'm glad I'm over my foray into true bypass, or else I probably would have been all over this  :P

Looks really cool. Have any pics?

gtudoran

It will be on a board @ the end of the month... i do have some projects right now that needs to be finished. :D

Processaurus

That's a lot of diodes!  Thanks for showing off the design.

gtudoran

100 to be exact (only for dip-sw)  :D quite a lot.

JKowalski

I think this is an occasion where a microcontroller would come in handy. Just saying

:icon_lol:

Could be, but is a little difficult (for me at least) to multiplex-demulitiplex the signals ... as far as i remeber a PIC or Atmel uC doesn't have 10 ports for output.
And as far as i can say :D is pure old-shool electronics :D hehehe. Just joking ... I'm not a big fan of uC.

Wow!!!  I would like to see pics of this and find out if it's verified. Looks just complex enough for me to try out!!

CynicalMan

That's insane! (By the way it's 120 diodes total  :o)

I'm interested in something like this. Are there any updates about what the project looks like?

So far not... i'm in other projects for some clients and i didn't had time to but it on the line... hope that will be soon. I have the enclosure thow :)).

how is it going with the project ?

Really curious about this one, but the link is broken.
...collectors together and emitter to base? You're such a darling...

ton.

Pfff i will try to repost the schematic - if i will find it :) was a long time ago and i found out that using a ATTINY2313 (with some shift registers if you like more then 8 loops) is much easy :D

Yep. I very much like the 74HC595 registers for holding output. They can be cheaper than getting a uC with more pins where you don't need the additional internal functions.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

N-Audio, a Bulgarian one-man FX company (he's on here as Nikolay) built something like this a while ago. Used a uC from the start, though :) You can probably find it in the "huge pedals" thread in Pictures.

Indeed R.G. And also it's too much trouble to build one - carl martin has a model that costs abou 250euro ... from a commercial point of view, building one is no use (my 2 cents ideea).

I'm in the process of making a 16 port true bypass looper with a PIC 18F4550 (40 pin), but I only use 3 outputs to control the 16 outputs, using 74HC595's. There's a project here by an Italian guy that should give you the information you need. He called it "midimind".

Well :) it is ... when you got the time :) but i don't have too much time to reinvent the wheel. I did finished a prototype using AT-Tiny 2313 ... works very good, also has 2 modes: preset and stomp, but it cost a little to build a custom enclosure. i think i posted around here a preliminary version of this with the hexfile.
