I received this pedal enclosure from an online vendor. they claim these defects are in the enclosure and not the paint job. Doesnt seem that way to me but i thought i would get more opinions before i start a fight.

I wouldnt be happy if I paid my hard earned money for it....

was it sold as a blem?
Completed Builds: A lot...

MmmPedals

No not a blem. i actually laid out money for it only because i wanted to sell it. otherwise i would paint my own but i wanted an A+ job.

I can't say if you want to keep it, but those certainly do look like problems beneath the paint.  Finishes will conform to any contour underneath it.

Now, personally, I don't think it matters where the problem came from, if you buy an enclosure from someone that isn't sold as a second, it should be right.

I agree, looks like a problem with the metal enclosure. But if it wasn't advertised as a blem, I'd be mad.

Did you inform the seller ?

If it were me, I'd start a fight. If they aren't willing to make it right, don't deal with them again. That's me.

I can't imagine they won't try and make it right - what they should do is give you a refund that you should use towards getting a blemish free enclosure. If they can't do it, it sucks but you'll have to eat it, or offer it as a blem sale here to recoup.

Well, they should replace it, but get the bad one back to sell as a 2nd.  At least, that's the way I see it.

Grab a rope!

Yeah, it's a metal defect under the paint.
Unless you sent them the box to paint, they need to refund/exchange the box for you.
Paint will have blemishes (big or small), that's just the way it goes unless you wet sand and
buff out the box, but it looks like the box is coated nice and smooth, they should have
caught the blem in the metal before painting it...

Now tell us who it is, bastards! :D

Yep, that's the metal.  It's really common on the edges of boxes.  Those casting marks are really tricky to smooth out.  The reason being you have to either build up the deficiency or sand it flat.  Either way, it's more work than a new blank enclosure is usually worth.

I bought a few boxes in that kind of shape.  I think they were LMB Heeger, does that ring a bell with anyone?  The casting was very thin, and the edges were all pock marked like that.
Try a little tenderness.

Brymus

Wow thats ridicules I cant believe anyone would send that out like that  :icon_eek:
i would start some sh*t over something like that, if being nice didnt get the issue resolved.
I have had stuff replaced at no cost to me for less damage than that.
And I still buy from them hmmmm imagine that...

Do try being nice first, though.  Speaking as a small business person, most businesses want their customers to be happy, and will try to do the right thing.  No reason to raise their - or your - stress level if it is not required.

Yep, be civil. No need to go in with your guns drawn.

I got the stake in the ground and the sticks all piled up under it with a torch in hand.
At least it's cold and the fire will come in handy.
Now what to do with all this tar and feathers?! ;D

I know Ben N. did a minor thread hijack in that 1Spot question thread a few lines lower than this--should we head for NY while our rage is still burning?  :icon_twisted:

Looks like there is minor defect in the box, happened before paint job and before electronics were assembled I quess. So I believe it is only cosmetic, I would not bother but thats what I believe

OOPS did not read/understand it was only a box painted for you. Can not understand why they did not use some filling  stuff in those valleys

If I was your customer for the completed pedal, I wouldn't buy it until you fixed the ding or I'd be looking for a moohoosive discount.  Either way, you'd end up out of pocket because of somebody else's negligence.

I say mobilise the troops.  But in a nice way, of course.

Possibly you could use this forum for a bit of leverage. Like:

"If you do the right thing, I will sing your praises to a very large portion of your target market"

Or, if no joy:

"If you continue to be a tool, I will make it my life's purpose to make sure you never sell another enclosure in this town....."

MmmPedals

thanks for your advice. I sent them pictures and asked for a refund of the difference between a blem and what i paid (wasn't interested in the pain+cash to send it back) and they refunded it no problem.
