Can you post the link to whatever forum those Dragonfly pics were on?
Curious since they are all the same looking circuit/ layout confuguration.

They were posted over at B Y O C - but I think Andy supplies the boxes for the fellas over at Rockbox: http://www.rockbox.com/effects.htm

I'm pretty sure the dupicates you see are all "Boiling Point" (s)

High tolerance, quality resistors - with bad tolerance, low quality resistors interspersed? For added perfection? Maybe i'm just not ignorant enough to get the appeal or logic in that??

It seems I can NEVER read a pedal-for-sale description without frying some brain cells trying to understand some of the gibberish they tout.

I have only tried two of these so far but I might try a couple more. While I was quite happy with the actual swirl result I seem to have a problem with extra paint collecting around the bottom of the enclosure. Perhaps I am using too much paint or a poor mix? I used Dragonfly's technique but I might try a dip next time around.

Anyway, I tried two similar colour patterns:

A not quite finished GGG Brassmaster for a friend.  Not really a traditional swirl but a mokume gane technique made with polymer clay that my loving wife did for me.

Just wondering how you guys get those coming out so smooth? Is it because of the clear coats?

You have to mix your acrylics with water. It takes some experimenting to find out exactly how much.
After a bunch of clear coats, sand with 600 or 800 gril to get rid of the bumps that might be left over from the paint an then spray some more clear on.
I've been meaning to try epoxy resin finishing like cloudscapes uses. Real thick and dries like a mirror.
