Hey Folks!

I am repairing a fender twin amp and it needs a 250KA for the bass on normal channel.  I have a 100KA,  Can I use a resistor to make this 250KA?
As long as it works so so ,  I will be fine with this.

Thanks for any advice!

fraid not, you can only make a pot resistance smaller with a resistor

If you use a 100k pot it will work you just won't be able to get maximum bass, a setting of 10 will basically be like 6 with the proper pot. You could put a resistor in series with the pot to make the total value 250K, but that will only give a very limited amount of adjustment.

Would it be okay to use a linear taper pot instead.  I do have  a 250KLinear.   Just don't know how much it would affect the bass on an amp that calls for log.

Thanks!

A 250k linear will give you the same range as the original, but don't expect a 6 on the linear to be a 6 on the audio. The bass will change either "faster" or "slower" than the original at some points, but every value will be there.
