I need to add more bass to ths pedal.   I built the General Guitar gadgets version, and it sounds good.  Just needs more low end.  Here's a link to the layout.  Which cap should I change to get this effect?  Thanks!

Try increasing the 4.7uF (C6) cap to 10uF, or even 22uF.  I'm not sure if that will give you a TON of bass response, though....the Dist + is pretty trebly because the 741 is violently overdriven and the diodes are slammed hard!

If that doesn't do enough, try bringing C2 up to about .047uF or larger.   Tweaking the input & output caps are what controls bass response (larger = more bass).  But, allowing too much bass thru can result in a muddy, cruddy sound.  So I tend to tweak the output cap first...distorting bass freq's isn't great sounding....

Thanks!  So I guess C2 is the input and C7 is the output right?

Also, for some reason I put a .1 for c4 rather than a .047 that is called for.  I think that was reccomended to me somehwere along the line while building this pedal?  What would that do?

I had the same issue when I built one of these, along with not enough distortion so i put 6X 1n4148 diodes in it  and reduced the 4k7 to 2k2 and upped the 47nF cap to 68nF.... problem solved. Or if this isn't enough go to 100nF but be aware it gets muddy quickly if you increase it too much. I also wired the distortion knob on full as I liked how it got into fuzzy distortion territory with it on full. So now its a one knob fuzz/distortion. (its actually been raped for the enclosure and I need to rehouse it)

It seems that I get the most bass boost when i change C3 to .1  So maybe C3 is the input resistor here?

At max gain, the stock C4 value rolls off bass below 720hz.  That does a great job of assuring that the hum from single-coil pickups will not be unintentionally exaggerated when you turn up, but guts the bass.  Change that cap to .22uf or even .47uf and you'll get all your bass back at all gain settings.

As noted, though,  reclaiming all that bass will also bring the signal level up and increase the amount of clipping produced.  Not exactly a punishment, though, and you can always turn the gain down a bit.
