Tremulus Lune Simplifying or Other Tremolo Designs

I wanted to build a Tremolo but seeing as there isn't a design out there that has everything I want (unless someone can guide me to one I haven't seen) I thought i'd simplify the tremolo that is generally considered the best in the DIY Domain.

Anyway, basically, my requirements are (incase anyone can think of a better design than the Tremulus) I only want 2 knobs, Speed & Depth and 2 Switches, a Square & Triangle shape switch and a 2 or 3 way switch for increased or decreased speeds... I hear that J-FET Voltage controlled Tremolos are better than the LED/LDR combo for faster and slower speeds but I haven't seen many designs that use that (other than the EA Trem which doesn't work with distortion well from what I read and also isn't as clean as the Tremulus)

So... assuming there's nothing more suitable than the Tremulus, am I right in saying that once I replace the Spacing & Smoothness pots with fixed resistors, I have to alter both of them with the switch to get Square and Triangle shapes (or the nearest approximations) or is there another way to go about it (another LFO more suited to my purpose?) other than that... removing the fine pot is simple enough and then I just have to adjust the 100uF in the LFO for a speed switch.

Schematic from here: http://www.tonepad.com/getFile.asp?id=84

Thanks in Advance!

I am kind of interested in the same things as you... Have you found a solution to replacing the spacing pot with fixed resistors???
IF not can anyone else give me some advice about the problem...???

Scruffie, if you have the ability to burn pics, you should check out Tom's LFOs.

The Taplfo and VCLFO have been easily hacked into the Trem Lune. There have also been a few 8-pin versions that came out that might cover what you want, too.

You can do pretty much everything you are asking for, and since all settings are done via CV, setting up switching to only allow certain options is very easy.

Edit: How about a link? http://www.electricdruid.net/

Good luck. :)

If you're not doing it for yourself, it's not DIY. ;)

Thanks for the fast replies guyz... I believe scruffle will have found an answer to his problem since 2010 but I thought I needn't open a new thread...

Thank you for the help anyways, I'll try it on my breadboard later....

This thread's over a year and a half old, i've designed my own Tremolo by now  :icon_mrgreen:

Tap Trem seems cool but I don't use trem enough to be worried about it. Had seen it before though yeah.

Correct and Good luck  :)

Back...but no luck.... I am basically interested in a square wave only... so thought the depth should be a 1K resistor in series with the 330 resistor as if lugs 2 and 3 of the pot are sonnected...

But together with all the rest I get no blinking on the led... Could it be my optocoupler being fried?? changed the chips but still...
