Line 6 Tap Tremolo Noise Issue

Hello friends,

I recently purchased a used Line 6 Tap Tremolo. Love everything the pedal does except that it adds noise to my signal chain when powered by a power supply. It adds some noise bypassed, and more with the effect on. If I use a battery to power it the noise goes away. I haven't looked to deeply into this yet, I just wanted to know if there was anything I could do internally to quiet this pedal down.

Thanks!

What kind of power supply are you using?  I use a one spot with mine, but it is noisy with the one spot.  The tone core's are big power hogs.  I think the only solution is the Tone Core power supply.
Try a little tenderness.

The Tone Core's don't always "share nicely".  I have most of the series and find that 1 will be quiet, but two on a supply will get noisy.

I have the same findings.  If I share any other pedal with a tone core it creates extra noise.
Try a little tenderness.

Well it sounds like I have the perfect recipe for noise then  :icon_rolleyes:.
Along with the Tap Tremolo I also have a Verbzilla in my chain, had no noise when it was just the Verbzilla, now with Tremolo added I have noise. So is getting the Line 6 supply my only option?

Thanks!

Are both tone cores running off the same power supply?  Have your tried running each pedal off its own supply?
Try a little tenderness.

Yes, they are. I forgot to mention in my last post that I have a 1 spot powering all my pedals.
So maybe if I get an additional power supply for one of them that will get it done then?

Thanks!

Yes, that is almost certainly your problem!  Try a separate power supply.
Try a little tenderness.

Now do I need to use the actual Line 6 one, or does it not matter as long as it has an independent power supply?

Thanks!

I'm sure they make a fine one, but no, you don't have to use theirs.  It simply has to have reasonable regulation, sufficient current, and the right plug polarity.
