18V, 300 mA wallwart enough for a Neovibe?

Will a 18V, 300 mA wallwart  be enough for a Neovibe?  Anyone know how much current these usually draw?  I'll be using a 40mA bulb.

Thanks,

  Not too bad.
Buncha opamps and a bulb drawing the current in that one IIRC, plus LED indicator option, they probably have data sheets, otherwise run the current through the DMM to read it...300ma. is morgan enough, but:
The Neovibe is a split supply IIRC, I'd use a converter to make +/- voltage myself, but I stacked a couple of floating 9vdc Spyder taps to make the -/"Gnd"/+ voltages.
Both methods are detailed at GEO.

I did finally get around to doing some work on Univibe/Neovibe current drain. At 15ma power supply the phase stages are about 1mA each, the preamp is about 2ma, the LFO is about 5ma. That's about 11ma, then you have to add what the bulb does. The bulb runs at less than its maximum, but changes around a lot from min to max, so it's best to allow for max drain for the bulb to be conservative.

With a 40ma bulb, I'd think that the actual current drain when the bulb flashes bright would be something like 50-60ma. A 100ma supply ought to be fine and a 300ma supply would be way generous. At least that's what I think from doing the analysis/simulation.

Oh, forgot - Pete: the Neovibe has transistors and a light bulb. I think you're thinking of the Easyvibe with opamps.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Thanks again R.G., you're the man.  I got all the parts, and plan on putting it together today.  Hopefull have some pics of a working vibe tonight.  :icon_wink:

Did up a couple EZ Vibes, one day I'll get a Neo-Vibe worked up.
