Hello Internet!
I am trying to extract just the clipping stage from the tube screamer for my own custom fuzz and overdrive pedal. I am extracting just this part because i wish to keep the design as simple as humanly possible, which means just a drive knob for the fuzz and overdrive, and then a volume.  What I want to know, is that it I put an input capacitor in front of this circuit and after it, but a 10uf cap, with a 10k resistor to ground, and then added a 9 volt power supply to the chip, using a lm741 for a op amp, would this circuit work? If someone has already done the same thing, could someone point me in that direction.  Thanks in advance for the help!
The schematic is from http://www.geofex.com/article_folders/TStech/tsxtech.htm

having leftover parts is just proof that you made it better!!!!

umm, there has been a tubescreamer with a 741 in it, it was the tube reamer v.1 from rog

no, that as well is a dual op amp, but that is the type of circuit im looking for though, I've got my idea on a bread board now, but for some reason no distortion, just clean sound.....

im kind of confused what you are telling me

version 1.2 of their tube reamer uses a 741 solely, maybe i should pm you the schematic

also, maybe post your schematic?

No, it's a single opamp.
