Metal Zone? Sounds like Slipknot via AM radio.

So, one of the kids from my church uses an MT-2 and it sounds like garbage as I'm sure you are well aware.  I want to offer to mod it for him, since I don't think he likes it either.  I found this thread:  http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=72580.0

It sounds much closer to what he wants, but unfortunately he didn't post what he actually did to the pedal.  Any idea what is out there for mods that will make it sound like that?

They can sound good, if you dial in the mid frequency right and don't give it too much gain.  The problem is, most people that are attracted to them don't know/don't want to dial the tone in to make it sound good.  They just scoop it out crank the gain and WOOF WOOF WOOF CHUGGA CHUGGA.

Huh.  The clean tone from his guitar sounds really nice and rich, maybe he just needs some help dialing in a good sound.

@above, thanks.  On it's way!

Yeah, that's true. I use a Metal Zone (in church) to get these really nice singing, sustaining lead lines. It gets a little messy with chords, but it does help with getting a nice and heavy sound for the Foo Fighters "My Hero" tune we do in the rock opera that we currently are doing at church until Easter Sunday.

Anyway, that's correct, you have to really play around with the EQ and gain settings. It can sound really great for certain things, and it is more than a one-trick pony if you know how to use it.
