This was one of the first effects I ever wanted to try after hearing sound clips.  I think I have bread boarded this 5 or 6 times and never could get it to work.

The circuit has sat on a bread board for over a month now and I decided to retrace my steps last night and when I plugged it in today, BAM!  Finally, it works!

I have read a lot about it having a low output and then upped the 1k collector resistor on Q4 to a 22k and then a 10k.  Much louder!

Awesome awesome nasty little beast!

I think the Scrambler is one of the underrated giants.  I really should use mine more!

Just got done playing with it some more.  Putting a 10k on the collector of Q4 brings up output a lot more than the stock 1k.  Now I can wire a volume pot at the end.

Nice variations when trying it with different pick up settings and tone settings on my guitar.  Sounds just like the clips I've heard.  I'm excited because I am going to perf the Scrambler and a Shin Ei Companion tonight.   Once I have those done, I will have those plus a One Knob fuzz to box.  Fun!

When I almost gave up on the Scrambler I found Gus's Octave Up Sick box.  I listened to a clip of it on John Lyon's sound clip page and really liked it.  Anybody out there build both?  How do they compare?  And are there different op amps I can try other than the one in the schematic?

5 or 6 times?  Thats dedication man.  Nice work!   :)

I just COULDN'T give up.  I bought the parts for it a year ago and would go back to it every few months but it never would make a sound.

When I took a crack at it last night, A) I was completely sober and B) I left out the diodes that weren't include on the production units.  One of those tricks worked!
