Heya, I'm trying to find something like this on mouser: http://www.pedalpartsplus.com/mm5/merchant.mvc?Screen=PROD&Store_Code=PPP&Product_Code=7514&Category_Code=Pot16

I'm trying to get all the parts I need from the same place to avoid shipping costs.  What pots do you guys use when you build pedals?

Thanks :P   The shaft looks really long though, can it be cut to the proper length if the knob won't fit over it?

theehman

It looks long in the drawing, but it's actually only .591" (1/2 inch)

Perfect.  Ok, so the last part I need for the condor cab sim is U1 and U2, both 'standard dual oa', which I assume is Op amp.  But I'm having trouble understanding how to search for it on mouser. I don't know what defines it as standard and searching here or even google can't seem to help me.

You've been a life-saver.  What would happen if I used the wrong one, just out of curiosity?  Would it not work or would it just change the way it sounds?

theehman

It might work, it might not.  It might change the sound for the better or the worse.  I think the Condor expects you to use a 4558 or 1458.

Alrightey, I'll get both.  I think the 8-pin sockets I have will fit them so i can swap if I need to.

So...  I can't find a 1k linear pot.  Can I use a 0.5K L pot with a 0.5K resistor in front?   And I have to wonder if that will affect it

ghostsauce

Actually, I did find one.  Apparently I suck at searching because I could swear this wasn't here a minute ago.  >_>

.59 is a little long. its longer than the one pictured in the PPP link. This is the 16mm, 10K audio taper, solder lugs with .33 length shaft used in most pedals.... http://www.mouser.com/ProductDetail/Alpha-Taiwan/RV16AF-10-15S1-A10K/?qs=HcpTTNlURoqKdT2%2fL9f05A%3d%3d
Here's the 1k linear pot, same dimensions...
