How would you clean/lubricate a matrix switch?

I came across this fun guy at a junk shop (on a panel with some jacks, lights, switches, and a knob - I am presuming it was part of someone's DIY synth or somehting). For a few bucks, it was already worth the eleven 1/4" jacks that were on it, not to mention this puppy:

We used to have some of those on an arp  (2500) modular I got to play with in the studio in college.

Anyway, the slider switches all seem to be in tact, but they are pretty tough to slide... if I keep doing it, something's bound to break. Can I just grease them, or will that ruin the conductivity/attract dirt?

I'm planning to use it for a patch bay like thing for my studio.

You could try some contact cleaner like caig deoxit.
