What are the parts for the spyder, the one transformer version?
I'm new to power supply's.

I know it uses:
220Uf Cap
10uf Cap
78l09 Regulator

What transformer do I use?
What kind of fuse?
What's a db01?

Can I change the positive regulator to change the output voltage on one output?

If you're new to power supplies, first go read "Power Supplies Basics" at GEOFEX. The link is on the first page.

For the 100ma version:

QuoteWhat kind of fuse?
Use this power entry module. It has a fuse drawer for a 5x20mm fuse, and all you have to do is wire up the line, neutral, and ground out of it.

You want a 5x20 **slow blow** fuse with 100ma rating for up to five of the transformers.

QuoteWhat's a db01?
It's an integrated diode bridge:

Yes. However, if you go over 9V, you must use a different transformer. Read the Power Supplies Basics for why.

Finally DO NOT try this until you thoroughly understand how to wire the AC power line wiring safely. If you have any doubts on how to do this, get help FIRST. You can create electrocution and fire hazards for yourself and others that may not surface for some time. Don't try it until you know how.

In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

Everything R.G. said.  But you can also go with the Weber Transformer WPDLXFMR-2.  You can find it HERE.  You'll need a larger fuse, though, if you are using all eight of the 11V secondaries.

My weber fit in an old power supply box from computer, nice because it easily was cleared of existing SMPS, the transformer fit nicely, has air cooling [though my PS stays cool it seems] and...the IEC connector is already mounted.
Commercial boxes that do this are quite reasonable IME, 150 or so ships the accessories/finished tidy PS].
Floating regulated outputs IMO are worth a try, indespensible for usage, and answer all the PS questions anyone could have before they're asked if bought new/readymade.
And tend to answer a few of the important questions if built from scratch.
All the other answers [which there are plenty, when using electromagnetics] can only be realized by reading [re-reading] and comprehending YMMV of course.
Have the answers to safety questions before beginning a build, what they are is so wide ranging...in this case the IEC, securely mounted in a sturdy case, unplugged, is strongly suggested for any build-work.
Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Ah cool,
I have a few older power supplies from ancient PCs I wasnt sure what to make with em.
I had seen tube pedals made from them and was saving them for that round tuit.
But the pedal supply is an even better idea.
Thanks Pete
and Thanks to RG of course for the design.
I'm no EE or even a tech, just a monkey with a soldering iron that can read, and follow instructions. ;D

All except the transformer. The transformer has to have 220 (or 230, or 240Vac ) primary. The secondaries, and the circuit components are the same.

The transformer that R.G. mentioned is 110 volt only primary. This one:

http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=339

can be wired for 220 volts. I also have this one:

http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=732

which has multiple secondaries and could be more convenient to work with.

But you would still need an "entry module" and line cord for for 220 volt service, as well as a lot of local help and advice if you want to stay alive through the build.

thank you R.G. and Steve!

;D:icon_neutral::icon_eek:

i'm going to talk to some guys first before i build this or ask them to build me one instead.
