Hi Guys,

Bit Of A noob here so please be nice  :)

I want to build a delay pedal, all I need is an 800ms delay and a 1600ms delay, operated by one switch. No tone, feedback controls etc any ideas how I can make this or get a diagram for it.

I have looked at other delay schematics to see if i can adapt them as  only want basic features, but am a little lost.

Any help would be great, Thanks in advance

Baz

You need to articulate your needs a little more.  What you've described so far doesn't really point the way to anything in particular.

For example, could a person build a delay of the designated time using bucket brigade chips?  I suppose, but it would either necessitate serious forfeiture of bandwidth, or else a fairly complex build using many BBDs, buffering of clock lines, etc.

There ARE digital chips from Princeton, that might still be available (the PT2395, in particular) that will do up to 800ms using external RAM.  You could use two of them in series to achieve 1600ms, although again that starts to get complex.

I'd have to agree with Mark here... also, for someone that is a self professed 'Newb' (not calling you one, just taking your word) a delay can be a tricky build...

However, if I was going to straight out suggest with no prior background, i'd say look at the Echo Base pedal here (easily found with the search function) uses a PT2399 chip (easily available) and is already designed so no hassle there, delivers around 700ms I beleive so not quite what you want but for such a comprehensive project, probably the best you'll get, I also beleive in the thread, it's explained how to double the delay time for it quite simply so that'd get you around 1,400ms hopefully so that would be my best off the bat suggestion.
