me and a friend talked about ways to get strip/perf/pcb boards look like vintage brown boards.
I did a test with some paper (130 gram chocolate brown) that I bought before but never tested...

I super glued it on top of the stripboard then cut to size. After that I used a small file to get the edge of the paper to blend in better.
For the holes I couldn't find a needle at first, so I just push the leads through, that made big and ugly holes. I managed to find a small needle and did most of the holes using that. Looked pretty good.

After soldering the paper got a little bit burnt on places, but I thought it would look worse than it did.

Well, might try this for a real project some time, I have no idea though if the super glue I used is conductive, or if the paper I used could be bad with electronics circuits for whatever reasons...

Here's some photos:

fwiw I have built a ton of circuits on stiff thin cardboard and never had any problem with them. I print PCB, strip, or perf layouts on paper and tape them on top and poke holes for component legs. I wouldn't suggest it for commercial stuff, but I don't think you will have any problem with the paper aspect of this.

nice. do you host any photos of any of your builds?

I've posted some pics of finished stuff - the outsides... but the insides are not pretty... you don't want to see them  :icon_mrgreen:  It's pretty much what you would think it looks like - sheet of thin cardboard with paper taped on top and components soldered leg to leg - nothing as pretty as what you posted there...

Yeah, nice !
Just a tip - You might want to experiment with different glues, ( maybe weldbond or similar).
OR have adequete ventilation as superglue near soldering gets nasty.

Beware, Super Glue is a somewhat conductive, too, it is all around bad choice for electronics, unfortunately.

There is another way......Fiebing leather dye!

Same PCB material, top one untreated, bottom one dipped in Fiebing

I saw a tutorial on that technique, really nice!

Anyone know of a glue that fall into the category "perfect for gluing brown paper on top of vero/perf-board, non-conductive, should also work well with the heat from soldering." :)
