Is this really right?

I've done 3 projects now with multi FX in one box.  In each case, the first effect doesn't work.  Thinking it was just a matter of debugging but nonetheless being suspicious, I took a known working circuit and put it in first position.  Bypass works but no output......what the heck am I doing wrong.

Do you have the 3PDTs oriented correctly? The diagram is unclear, but the pins should be horizontal, parallel to the writing.

Hmmm....I have them side by side, with the flat surfaces facing top & bottom

In other words, in the diagram above, the flat parts of the switch pins facing north and south and the switches are side by side just like that.....Does it really matter though?

Yes it matters.

For the diagram above they should be like this:
_  _  _
_  _  _
_  _  _

Not like this:

|   |   |
|   |   |
|   |   |

And yes, the diagram is correct.

The diagram is correct. If things aren't working, there's a better chance that the problem is other things, not the diagram. These guys have helped point you in the right direction to figure it out though.
