Hi

i've got all the components soldered up and cables, i'm using s v 2.2 noise swash board. I plugged in a 9v battery and turned all knobs, but still there no sound.

i've test the ics with the battery plugged in. the opamps at ard 3v and the mods ics 4558 are ard 6v. just one 4558 is reading 0v. that means it's fried. I'll replace that. but other than that, there's still no sound.

under 'Tweaking the noise' ; test 1 the points i take red wire battery snap to the 220k gives a reading of 3 volts.

- after some testing...

Dann; you are write to solder over all the parts again. i acidentally touch the points where the diodes and the cap hook up and suddenly there was sound! it sounded really great till my solder melts and the sound is gone. so what could be the problem here? where is the soldering iron causing the sound to appear?

again some testing....

i've test the power voltage at between black on battery clip and the 3rd leg of 7809. the reading is abt 6.6 volts. so the 7809 is dead as well?

i'm so close to finishing this up.. someone please advise me on this.

thanks

Flawed solder joints are much more likely than failed chips. Electrons are fussy.

ok. I've check all the solder points and everything seem to stick. i didn't see any broken lines in the circuit. when i touch it with the soldering iron along the ground points, that means that there is something wrong with the  ground connection?

Well, fussy electrons aside...

Definitely change out your 7809 (Check the pinout online to double verify you are using the right (read correct) side. Center should be negative.) Replace the 100uf capacitor at the same time. 90 percent of the time if one goes so does the other, sometime you can figure out which one, but more often you break the replacement because the problem with one is frying the other. Best to remove the 7809 and 100uf, first then replace both with new ones.

Always check the bypass signal. I can't tell you how often I got distracted while wiring the jacks that I flip flopped the wires.

When you get the 7809 and cap out do a continuity test to make sure the positive supply and ground aren't shorted. This can be done one the 100uf capacitor pads. While you're at it check ground and 9vdc in. A short, or continuity, at either of these places is a sure sign of something wrong, and could be why the power regulator(7809) or capacitor is blowing.

Once those are replaced, the output side of the 7809 should read right at 9 volts. So should the ic's pin 8. (And pin 4 should be 0v).

This is the first step for fixing a dead swash. If this doesn't work let me know.

Also...
Really double/triple check the pinout and orientation of your ic's (tl062, tl072). They get turned around alot.
Do this before you put in the new regulator and power up. I've seen bad power blow ics and I've seen mis orientated opamps blow the power reg or cap.
If you think they are "blown" You can swap out almost any dual opamp until you get the swash running, then put in the right chips to get the proper sounds.
