Which echo did you mod?

It was a Hannah Montana toy guitar with echo I circuit bent into a pedal. It had a 2399 chip in there, and the circuit was similar to the pt2399 datasheet echo. One of the mods I did was swap out the delay time resistor to a much higher value pot for the long grainy echos.

I hope you don't mind a few questions:

1) Was it responding to your vibrato or were you vibrato-ing out of habit?

2) Will it respond to string bends and the whammy bar?

3) Is it attack sensitive.  For example, if you play some Ian Anderson flute, will it produce a hard "puff" attack when you attack the string hard, and a legato slur if you do a soft hammer on/pull off trill?

4) This is probably more of a DAW question. Could you assign one instrument to all notes you play below a certain pitch and another instrument to notes above that pitch?  For example, string bass for notes you play on the low E and A strings and piano chords for notes on the four higher strings? 

Sorry for the questions, but this is fascinating stuff!!!

3 would depend on the sound you were triggering - you would set adsr there. there seems to be some crude velocity sensing.

4 set up your sounds in a sampler and keymap them. you can then have different instruments in different octaves - eg c2 to c3  for bass, c#3 to c4  for whatever, etc. depending on velocity sensitivity you could also have two sound per note - play softly for oboe or hard for trumpet or whatever. and set up individual samples on odd notes here and there that you are unlikely to play unless very deliberately so that can trigger one shot samples, sound fx, loops, lighting fx...

as to playing style (i'm sloppy too) try the old acoustic guitar to a banjo with a sock trick. stuff some light foam or cloth under your strings to deaden them as some bassists do. this should allow enough of a note thru for the pic to sample but quickly kill off any ringing that may cause beat frequencies that would confuse the pic program.

I was just asking whether your DIY version could handle bends. It's been a while since I've played with my G2M, which I think is V1. I can't remember if it handles bends. I guess I'm going to have to reload Sonar DAW and give it another go.
