Good matte or satin clear coat?

I tried the Krylon Triple Thick spray on clear coat, but it looks kinda cheap. It's SUPER glossy. Not thrilled.

Are there any decent, no nonsense, spray matte or satin clear coats?

I've often made a satin finish by steel-wooling a glossy finish. Do it in an up-and-down motion and you get a nice brushed look.

I've used Rustoleum, I believe its called "Painter's Touch" ( white can) matte clear from Home Depot with a good result.  Its definitely matte.  They have a gloss too. $3-4/can.
