To let more low end through this circuit what do you suggest?

Hi all,

I've breadboarded and built the "Open Sounding Distortion" from the Wampler Advanced book (pg.52) . After living with it for awhile I feel it doesn't let through enough bass, although I like the sound.

The only thing I've tried so far is changing the .01uF input cap to a 1uF, but I didn't notice more bass, only muddier distortion.

What would you suggest I mod?

Try a larger value output cap.

Like rousejeremy said, bigger output cap.  More technically, you want a lower output impedance for low frequencies.  That might also mean adding a buffer to the output (if it's not already low output impedance).

An alternative approach, especially useful if you've used up all the available output current and/or gain, is to cut the treble and midrange, to get more "apparent" bass in the output.  It's all relative, after all.
