Hi all,

I've been studying the Peppermill schematic -- it looks like a very neat little overdrive circuit, but I'm thinking that I'd like to introduce a clipping section into the signal path.  I'd like to hear your thoughts on where you feel a clipping stage would do the most good in terms of shaping the tone without too much of a drop in gain.  I was thinking of putting it either after Q2, or possibly making a feedback type loop in parallel to Q2 perhaps to impart a bit more saturation into it before it goes out to the R/C filter at the end of the circuit...

Thoughts on this?

Thanks for that, FC.  Let me see if I understand correctly what you did: you wired the 2n5457 circuit into the BS170 circuit as an extra, and earlier, gain stage?

Do the resistors in the 2n5457 circuit need to be 1M?  If so, why, and if not, how would a different value interact with the 10M resistors in the BS170 stage?
