Alesis Microverb I Defeat Switch

I checked out the manual, and all it says about the external defeat switch is that it is an SPST and nothing about wiring it up. I was wondering if anybody knows how to wire up a footswitch for the Microverb, because I can't find anything on the internet.

The switch simply shorts the tip to ground

That is the strategy employed by a LOT of manufacturers, and is one of the first things to consider whenever there is an otherwise undetailed phone jack that says "bypass", "footswitch", or "defeat".

Okay... forgive my ignorance, but for the life of me, I cannot find any info on ANY foot switches out there. Is, for example, the BOSS FS-5L a tip to ground foot switch? I just need something that works, and I don't really feel like building one if I don't have to. I need this thing as soon as possible.

FS-5L will work.
