I need to build a simple switch box

Is there someone that would be willing to coach me on a pretty simple and probably boring project.

I have a bass amp that uses a closed circuit (tip to ground) to cause changes in the amp. ie. mute on/off and various amp voicings. So basically you would use a switch to short out a 1/4" phone plug. Open is the off state and closed is the function change. This would be easy I think....but

I want to add LED indication that the switch is closed so I will need a 9v battery for this and I would like to have the option to run the LEDs off of a Boss-type wallwort power supply.

I have a 1590 box, LEDs, switches, 1/4" jacks, battery connector and the 9v jack.

um wait ok.. wat exactly are u trying to do? Make a switch that kills ur guitar input? Like a killswitch? Cuz im confused on wat ur asking for

I actually think that I have the circuit worked out. I was going at it all wrong and it didn't make sense until I broke it down to what the main purpose was.

My amp has a setup that uses a an open circuit to leave either the Mute or one of the five voicings in a normal un-affected state. To change that un-affected state (ie. mute the amp or turn on one of the voicings you have to close the circuit with a tip to ground 1/4" plug. So basically the Mute and the four different voicings each have a 1/4" jack on the back of the amp.

Mesa Boogie doesn't build a pedal for this amp so the only option was to go with a Voodooman.com switch pedal ($120 plus shipping) that he builds specifically for this amp or build it myself. I figured that it had to be fairly easy and also a good introduction to building pedals so I opted to try it myself.

So basically I am taking a latching push button switch running it to a 1/4" jack outside the pedal box. One side of the switch closes and opens the loop to the amp. The other side of the switch controls the LED. I have the stuff for a 9v battery and a mini jack so that the LEDs can run off of the battery or the wal-wort.

So know I just need to figure out how to lay out the box for drilling.

Quackzed

     wire tip---- 0        0---(ground)(-9v)

wire sleeve ---0       0----(-led+)---2kresistor-----(+9v)

                     0        0

you can do it with a dpdt switch... so when wire tip and sleeve are connected, the led is connected to ground and lights. and when open light is off.

oops i see you beat me to it  ;D
nothing says forever like a solid block of liquid nails!!!

Ok man! Drilling isnt too very hard at all.... At first it seem difficult but once u think about it in ur head an dril for the first time, its pretty simple. If you wana sketch it out first, u can use Autocad or some other sketching program.

Add in a bi-color LED so it's green when on and red when off - extra cool! 9V battery to switch in only when the jack is inserted.
