In response to the questions in the forum - PCB Layout for Musical Effects is available from The Book Patch. Search "PCB Layout" and it ought to appear.

I'm guessing it means that there is a big lineup of folks who have leapt into project building without perhaps doing the necessary learning and reading, yielding an unending stream of help-me-debug-my-project postings....not to mention true confessionals of bonehead mistakes.

No, It's summer so it's time to head out to the outdoor range with the AR's. Oh wait, wrong forum. Never mind.

Unless he means the people in Texas who do these sorts of things for fun in the summer: http://www.youtube.com/user/kiwitedferny#p/u/10/f8vhANP9OTU

+1 I believe that I could be included in this group :icon_redface: firing before I aim. but I'm getting better at using my sights :icon_lol:

It's summer- time for fresh air and sunshine. Step away from the computer and put down the soldering iron.

It seems possible to find the RFA = read for action at any time.
  But this time it's different.

Hey I just bought this $500 amp kit and now I have big pile of parts in a circle surrounding me on the floor. All I have is a screwdriver, a monkey wrench, and a soldering gun. WTF do I do with all this sh!t?!? How do you read a schematic and what's a layout diagram anyway? I have to have this working by tomorrow night for a gig too!!! Can anyone help? Pretty please?

A lot of times that's the best way to solve a problem. Many times at work when I start beating my head against the wall with a software problem, I either step away from it, take a walk or something and it comes to me. Or on the drive home it hits me out of the blue- "That's what I need to do..." Something about just relaxing the proactive part of your brain and letting the subconscious twiddle with it can be very helpful.

For me summer started two months ago,now its uh,what comes after hot ?  :icon_evil:
I have to get up at 5:00 in the morning open the garage door, let it cool down to 85 -90,then I have until about 8 AM before its to hot to work in...(its uninsulated no drywall)
The thermometer on my front porch exploded,as it only goes to 120,it lasted a couple of years,I would just guesstimate what the temp was by how far past 120 it went.(it gets direct sun the last half of the day)
The one in my garage goes to 140,I have seen it reach 130 several days in a row,but not yet this year, that comes in a couple of weeks.

I was watching Land of the Lost last night and IIRC Will Ferell says Ready,Fire, Aim at one point in the movie.
I'm no EE or even a tech, just a monkey with a soldering iron that can read, and follow instructions. ;D

After hot comes... INFERNO!!!

I've visited Scottsdale once in summer, must say it was hot, but humidity is the real killer IMO. If your sweat doesn't evaporate, it doesn't cool you down.
Then again, standing in the desert sun isn't too fun.

Summer for me is when I get to laze around, and pretend to do work at work when I'm really looking at everyone having fun outside... No work this summer, but I'm studying for my MCATs... (a.k.a. looking out the window at everyone having fun outside  :icon_lol: )

I used to have McDonnell Helicopter in Mesa AZ as a customer, so I am familliar with heat (and I used to wear a 3-piece suit and tie in 115F weather when I went there).

Do you have to use aerosol paint cans right away, just so they don't explode?  I bet you can get a good wrinkle finish immediately at that temperature.  And germanium anything is just not going to work.  Tubes would work with less heater current.  And every resistor has to be at least a half watt to avoid charring.  You can attach a 10-gauge ground wire to a chassis with a 35-watt soldering iron.  Or a magnifying glass.  Using scorpion venom as flux.

Not a fan of the desert.

Ready and aim are both overrated.

I just Fire and as Duke Nukem would say, "Let god sort 'em out!" :icon_eek:

I'm fine with summer.  Winter was too long, dark, and cold
