The only thing missing from this picture is the swimming pool to jump in while the smoker's going. I'm there...

For me summer started two months ago,now its uh,what comes after hot ?  :icon_evil:
I have to get up at 5:00 in the morning open the garage door, let it cool down to 85 -90,then I have until about 8 AM before its to hot to work in...(its uninsulated no drywall)
The thermometer on my front porch exploded,as it only goes to 120,it lasted a couple of years,I would just guesstimate what the temp was by how far past 120 it went.(it gets direct sun the last half of the day)
The one in my garage goes to 140,I have seen it reach 130 several days in a row,but not yet this year, that comes in a couple of weeks.

I was watching Land of the Lost last night and IIRC Will Ferell says Ready,Fire, Aim at one point in the movie.

Yeah, you live at the other side of the river from Laughlin - it's freaking HOT there in the summer. I live in Vegas which isn't too far away. It's hot here, but not as bad as over there! It's almost like Death Valley where you live. Even the terrain looks a lot like it, LOL.

Brymus

Yeah, Paul
Actually Death Valley is the only place in the USA that gets hotter than where I live. But only by a couple degrees fahrenheit.
Its almost dusk and 118 in my garage  :icon_eek:
Next month we get the added discomfort of higher humidity.
It wont be decent again until October, but it doesnt get cold until January (with constant 50-60 mph winds) and that only lasts a couple of months, in 10 years I have only seen frost once and that was at daybreak in Febuary.
But its only approximately a 45/60 minute drive to about 3000 ft higher where it does snow occasionally in winter  :icon_cool:

Here in Toronto, mid 80's is considered extremely hot for us already! (but we do have Lake Ontario to keep temperature moderate). How on earth do stand the heat?!?! I would totally die in that kind of heat!

You eventually build a tolerance for it. The best thing to do is go out and play in the heat--just watch out for sunburn.

A Long sleeve sweatshirt, and a gallon of regular temp-tap water...
The water is added to your 'radiator-heat-exchanger' [the shirt], this instantly cools the body-core temperature.
Easy does it though, this powerful heat exchanger can throw a body into shock, cause heart attack,
It is recomended that a comfortable body temperature is maintained, the radiator doubles as sun protection, keep the water with your for best performance [evaporative cooling may last a number of hours, keep this in mind if cold may become an issue, the dried radiator can also be used to keep core temperature from dropping].
May your energy level, ability to sustain performance and elecrolyte balance be with you at all timesm, Yoda.

Awesome!!!

I used to have one of those turkey fryers.

I diy-ed an air intake control on the smoker. Load it with lump charcoal and some hardwood chunks and it runs 5-6 hours without touching it.

I always ask myself why people live there (where you live). What the heck is there to do around there anyway?! I don't do casinos, but at the time of year when the temperature is reasonable, I go to Redrock a lot, or up to Mt Charleston in the summer. Nice to get away from the constant heat. Even at 4:00AM it's still like 90 deg F outside.  :icon_mad:

I would LOVE to live there. For me, anything above 85 deg F is HOT. Every summer in Vegas is like living in Hades for 4 months. And the other three or four months of the year when it is 80 deg F or higher is still not pleasant to me. :icon_rolleyes:

Here in Arizona, we have routine 110's. This whole next week is around 108.

The only saving grace is that there is usually zero humidity. Whenever I go up northeast or somewhere colder the humidity is often unbearable for me.

You must live near Phoenix? Yeah, the humidity here is usually 10% or less in the summer. The "monsoon" season here can be most unpleasant with the high heat and elevated humidity. But those monsoon seasons seem to only be a memory these days.  :icon_frown:

I used to have the same mentality... Not something to joke about though, especially when someone you know gets skin cancer...

I guess I'm lucky to live in such a moderate climate. Summer's here are nice...mid 80's F would be a really hot day, but usually it hovers around the mid 70's (F). Although during the winter it does sometimes dip to the negatives (farenheit), but it's not too bad either. Compared to places up north, the winters in Toronto are quite mild.
