Can it be done? I've a tonne of black plastic knobs that i wouldn't mind painting some other colour. So can i do it or is it more hassle than it's worth?

I had heard and read that the Krylon Fusion / Plastic  paint is good.
After a cleaning prep and a light spray on Fender amp tolex it covers well................but is still tacky days later..wtf ?
