My first reverse etch (2nd attempt!), this is for a Phase 45 which I have renamed Phase 42 Paint is a bit uneven at the moment but I'm really pleased with the etch.

whats your mix control like?...i tried it, but wasn't too happy with it, it was more of a vibey control than a mix imo..

and didn't go to well with distortion.

(the bias is to 'tune' the phase)

FET bias? Or is it like the vibe mod  (capacitors)?

I have to confess I don't know yet, only started on the enclosure so far and the PCB + mods are all part of a kit (Poodle's Pedal Parts P45). I've yet to progress to making my own boards but as this is my fifth build I'm started to look into it as I want to expand my options and gain more understanding of what's going on, rather than just solder by numbers! Having said that I think the kits are excellent quality for the price and I have been very pleased with the results of each one.

I've seen lots of vero layouts which I'd like to try but I much prefer the idea of etching my own PCBs as opposed to using stripboard, I have no idea how you convert one to the other though? Is there a good place I should start?

@chianski. pretty much the same imo, and with my experiments.

@graham: stripboard is fine for smaller projects, but pcb is much better for larger projects,

converting a schematic to vero becomes very large, very quickly.  try pcb etching, you may as well as you use the same process as etching boxes.

I panicked and flushed the acid bucket with the water bucket to stop it.

Saw the above quote in a previous post and, in case it hasn't been mentioned recently, as the saying goes...

"Do as you ought to, add acid to water." (It rhymes if you say it like you're a gangsta.)

If you do it the other way, add water to a strong acid solution, you can get an exothermal reaction that, at best, will heat up your solution a bit. At worst, it will heat up so much that the water boils and vaporizes as it hits the strong acid solution. If that happens, it can spray the surrounding area with acid (your bench, clothes, hands, face, etc...).

I don't think you really need acid that strong to etch enclosures, but thought it was worth mentioning... just in case. <---(note, the smiley's safety glasses)
