I'm using Molotow cans http://www.molotow.com/products/artist-line/premium-products/premium-400ml-transparent/ - I use their solid colours too (http://www.molotow.com/products/artist-line/premium-products/molotow-premium-400ml/ ). They're cheap, <4€ per can), dry fast and are really easy to get a smooth coating on. The translucent ones really come alive with a few layers of clear gloss over the top. The only downside is that it chips easier than powdercoating..

Beautiful!, how deep do you make your etches? I mean off course can you show the edges from close-up?

I want my etches deeper than I can get them without losing sharpness, maybe I'll try your caustic soda etching next time...

Thanks man! Next time I do an etch I will take a photo before I apply the paint to show how deep it is, it's approx 1mm deep at a guess. For this one I had the enclosure in 50% Caustic Soda solution for no more than 10 mins. Normally I add the solution with a pipette but for this one I submerged it and the overall etching time was much shorter so will probably do this from now on. I've found in general Caustic Soda works faster than Ferric so there is less time for the mask to be eaten away which results in a sharper etch.

Okay, THAT has been my issue on my enclosure etches: Depth vs edge sharpness.
I am about to etch some enclosures, and want to give the caustic soda technique a try. Is there something else you mix it with? If so, can you share the mixure ratios please? I would appreciate it.

First Etch.....Its a Kanji Eternity Burst in a 1590A....50g of Lye in 100g of H2O for about 15 minutes....and a ton of sanding....Maybe I went  a little too overboard on the pattern!

Yes, it's just mixed with water, I do an approx 50% solution, so 100ml of water and 50g of Caustic Soda. Be sure to only add Caustic to water and not the other way round, you get a more violent reaction otherwise. It will heat up when you mix the two together so be sure to do it in a sturdy plastic container and wear thick rubber gloves!
