Posted elsewhere-- but, my etch technique is improving.  This turned out to be a nice project.  Everything fit well, and I was able to put the controls similarly to the original.  Wired it up last night, and it works.  That's the best part!  MC

Has a pink LED too, and the Centar has T*TS.  It's a buffered Klon.. I named it Buffy the Centaur..  

I figured out I was overetching.  I went with a lesser etch time, and everything just turned out clean.  As DeadAstro said--it's in the prep.  I block sanded 1st to get it flat, and used a paint pencil to ensure I wouldn't get any bleed around the image.  This etch had a lot of dead space, so I just used blue masking tape mostly.

Actually, the pink knobbies are for an R-Rated pedal I have in the think-tank.  But, I have to get my current "Sonic Czar" fiasco put to bed.

Yeah the steel etches pretty good. I used really old, pre used, radio shack etchant which is pretty much ferric. It's pretty well spent and I was using it first in a cool temperature room. Noticed it wasn't etching all that fast so I transferred it to a warmer room and hit the acid with a heat gun for a few moments. That helped kick in the etch but it started to undercut some areas and wore away at the industrial sharpie I used for touch up spots. Overall not to shabby though

The ferric that comes in the pellets or powder would work great for the steel. I was going to try the NaoH because it usually makes for really clean sharp etches, but I read it won't etch steel.
