Any tips from the experts?
Any schematics out there?

The fun is in purchasing something relatively inexpensive, taking it out of the box, plugging your guitar in and enjoying it- which in the end is the point of the whole exercise. You probably couldn't build one for much less than it would cost to buy one. There are a lot of DIY delay projects around if you do some searching. If you want to build something I would start there.

You asked for a tip and I gave you one...

What's the fun in that?
 1 Dan Echo !
 I believe that's analog ?
1rst try to dig up any information, this is a good place where you've started [and a satisfactory chip source].
For fun optimizations, perhaps observing what is going on in Dan-O or other echoes that makes them 'tick' [the reason for mentioning other echoes is perhaps after googling for Dan's schematic other echoes, many similar 'core' chips offer basic 'echo', then, peripheral echo treatments, echo controls, schematics, mods etc....perhaps enabling the user/builder to create a wider or more useful variety of controls/treatments.
 1 Danecho + external treatments ?
