Hello everyone, I'm back from a long illness, and had to get back in the water !! Building an MXR EF specifically for my bass player and wanted to know what mods anyone recommends for bass.  He uses active pickups and I built in all the mods, range, reverse sweep, and emphasis controls..  Could I dink around with caps in the filter? Should I change the input and output caps? Been reading a lot of build reports and so far haven't seen any emphasizing bass mods in particular.

Thank you in advance for any help.

Bass tends to like:

1) fast decay

2) lots of resonance

3) retention of bottom

So:

1) consider making the 1M resistor (R17) in parallel with the averaging cap a little smaller, or have a toggle for fast/slow, or a variable control;

2) make the "emphasis" control a 1M pot instead of 500k;

3) poke around and look for threads where the topic of converting/tapping the filter is discussed.  You can take the signal from a different point and have it behave as a lowpass, instead of bandpass.  It's been so long, I forgot where that point is.  Anybody here remember?

Thank you Mark!  I'm soon ready to have my bass player come over with his bass and amp and have a component plugging party lol..
But will definitely try everything you suggested !
