Hey guys ive been perusing this forum as a guest for a while now, and ive got alot of great insight...but finally i have a few questions, maybe someone can help me out.

My live rig: PRS > pedal board > Mesa Studio Pre > Split: QSC K10 for monitoring and other output to the board...

I'm a wedding player, so fast setup and teardown is key.

I want to simplify my cable run to just one cable...so this has to include (1) from pedal board to pre input (2) effect loop send from preamp (3) effects loop return to preamp (4) channel switcher

The channel switcher runs 9vac though cable.

My idea...i dont want there to be any noise and such obviously...

i know that there shouldnt be VAC and audio in the same cable, but my plan is use Mogami Gold 4 pair for the cable wire...it is 4 separately shielded, twisted and jacketed pairs of wires within one thick rubber jacket...

for the breakout boxes, i was going to use metal boxes with all plastic jacks so there wouldnt be any ground VAC to audio crossover.

for the actual connectors the only one i could find that didnt have a metal shell, was a Speakon 8 pole connector, which has 8 separate poles which never cross...

What do u guys think? would this work? would there be additional noise that i wouldnt have using my current bazillion cables, b/c of the channel switcher?

and i would be using shielded, twisted wires within the enclosure

I think that will work. I doubt there will be any more noise than you'd see with four normal cables. My question is, why don't you think you can run Power down the cable?

Did you know there's a commercial product for this? http://www.pedalsnake.com/

oh, i know that i can run power down the cable, im just worried about noise that could crop up because of the close proximity, which is why i made sure that there was no common ground with the audio...im just not sure if this logic is straight...

and yes i know about the pedal snake, but even the cheapest one is over kill for me, and there isnt a breakout box...which i want

I don't think you will have noise.  All of the audio running through the snake is low impedance, and the 9c AC will be shielded.

Don't you want 9v DC power running to the pedalboard though?

Whatever kind of connector you use, you'd want at least one backup cable, you don't want it to be the only one in the world when it breaks...

my pedalboard and amp are usually very close together, due to the nature of wedding stages/venues...and the pedalboard its self it powered (as well as having 2 outlets on it, which i plug my amp and monitor into) so i dont need to send 9vdc to the board...i think im gonna go ahead and make the breakout box and cable...oh and yes, make a backup cable...and i will report back as to how it goes.
thanks for all the help.

This is Great! I've been searching for info on a custom cable and this is pretty much what I want to achieve. The only difference is that I only need fx send, fx return, and tuner. I'd also like to run power through there on the remaining line but that's something that I can tackle at a later date (I need more schooling on the power part). So I'd just tie off the 4th connector for now.

Does anyone else have any opinions on this method?

Thanks!
