sooo my favorite effect is my 1986 alesis microverb (1). the largest hall setting is straight sigur ros. anyway i've always wanted to mod it into a stompbox - as it is, i have to reach down to fiddle with it, which i do more than with any other pedal - or, even better, hook up the "mix" pot to a volume/wah pedal shell. i really don't care about a clean-looking final product - i just want a wah that will turn the mix pot when i step on it.

any idea how should i go about doing this? i don't have a wah but i'm looking to buy a used one. would it work if i just soldered longer wires to the mix pot, strung it over into the wah, and replaced it for the wah pot? of course, i know wah and volume pots are their own things entirely...

so yeah. i've built a few pedals but as you can clearly tell i don't know a thing about wahs/volumes. but i would LOVE to pull this off so if you guys have any advice at all, i'd appreciate it so much.

thanks!

I did something similar for a friend of mine, except it was a Holy Grail reverb. I ended up using an Ernie Ball volume pedal because it didn't require a pot with a geared shaft (as most wahs do). Turned out well.

The only problem I ran into was this: rocker pedals typically don't use the full rotation of the pot, so you lose something on either end. You can either go from 0 to 8, or 2 to 10 (or somewhere in between). Wasn't a problem for my friend, as he never used the reverb 100% wet. So we opted for 0 to 8.

you'll probably want to do something like this article describes:

i'm currently looking into doing this for a ring mod, though i'm not sure where i'll find the wah/volume/rocker pedal.

The best way to tackle this would be to solder the leads from the pot to a jack and use an expression pedal to control the unit.
