I built my first circuit. I simply bought the P45 phaser kit of GGG.
It works well when I turn it on, but when I switch off the pedal, the volume drops a lot.
I'm sure that it's a mistake of mine, but I can't find it... :-[
Can you help me, maybe with some suggestion about the "typical" mistakes that can cause this kind of problem?
I know, that if I can't even put together a kit maybe I should give up. But I like this world of diy and I'll hang in there!
I tried both with a battery and the power adapter, but the problem is the same. And adjusting the trimmer doesn't change anything when the effect is turned off.
Thanks a lot for any help you can give me!

Welcome Lelik!

I've built the Phase 45, and I can say it's an awesome phaser. My favourite for sure.

As to your problem, probably the most helpful thing for us would be for you to look at the Debugging thread that's a sticky at the top of this forum. In there it will help you give us the information that will allow us to help you best.

For now though, there are three or four major issues beginners (including me) have. The first and most popular... er... common... is to have bad wiring. Double check, and then triple check to make sure your wiring is all right. Because your pedal is working right, at least as far as you can tell, chances are that your bypass signal has a problem, so check closely there. Don't assume you did it right, or that it looks right, but check it and check it again.

If that doesn't help, pictures and more info from the debugging thread will help. Also, if you have a bypass looper, try using that to see if it really is just the pedal, or if perhaps the effected signal is actually much louder than your normal signal is.

Thanks Jacob.
You're right, and I'll check again and again specially the switch/input/output jacks and the wiring there, even if for now it seems to me that it is ok... obviously it isn't!
Yes, the phaser works well, and I like it. I found the sweet spot of the trimmer quickly.
When the pedal is on the volume is ok; I tried simply disconnecting the pedal and going into the amp directly: the volume was the same. On the contrary when I turn off the pedal (in bypass mode I mean) the volume drops, like rolling back the volume control of the guitar, so the volume is lower and the tone is darker. I'll find the reason... and then I'll try with another diy project without a ready kit and pcb  ::)
