There was a much earlier thread on how to light an LED in a Sunn Buzz
http://www.diystompboxes.com/smfforum/index.php?topic=58110.0

The solution for the Sunn Buzz (or any other 1.5v pedal) was to use a 9v battery with a voltage divider

But I came across this video today. I'll give it a go later.

and this is simpler

My only question would be: If it works, will it drain the battery quickly?

either way, looks like a blast...

For reference:

It is not clear to me what the LED current is. I suspect the lower resistor holds transistor current to something like 100mA, which suggests 50mA average battery and 25mA peak 12mA average in the LED. But transistor tolerances could cause huge variation.

Build it. Try it. Won't cost much.

I will try it...just need the ferrite coil.

I just thought the forum would get a kick since it uses a PNP/NPN combo.
