Tonebender Pains, once again

I'm having a giant head ache with my own tonebender. Again. I've breadboarded the thing twice, and done 2 perfboards of it, and no luck. A previous one i have works great, although much sloppier. I get very very quiet sound that you can only hear if the amp is turned up, and ONLY the volume pot works then. After i did a audio probe, i found that the sound drops at the collector of Q2, but its fine at Q2 base. I don't see any issues, ive checked my curcuit as best as i could, and im at my wits end!

0) If you are using the switch, do you get sound in the effect off position?

1) Did you try swapping to another Q2?

2) ...and I know it's cliche, but how sure are you that you have ECB correctly oriented?

3) If switch is hooked up, simplify things and eliminate the switch till you get it working

4) And here's a beginner error I made when I first started and got sounds similar to yours:

Input on the schematic: top line is the casing and goes to +, middle line is tip and goes to .022uf, bottom is grounded.

Output on the schematic: Here's where I screwed up on my first box... The top line is exactly the same symbol as on the input
but here it means the tip (not the casing), bottom is grounded

yes to all im good with all that. no changes.

went thru the debugging steps as ordered

battery: 9.0V
red(battery)=0V
black(battery)=8.99V

Q1
C=-1.7
B=-1.074
E=-.434

Q2
C=--8.95
B=-1.695
E=-1.206

this schematic has an error.

What's labeled as an 8.2K resistor below the 1K gain pot should be 820 ohm
