So I'm getting the stuff together for the Firefly. I thought that ordering from Mouser would be a drag with customs as it's an American company. Little did I know they are also based in Germany!
So I ordered monday 5 'o clock, thought it would take two weeks. It arrived today, wednesday just after noon ;D.

Wat?

They told me $20 minimum postage for "international orders..."

jasperoosthoek

Free shipping for orders over 75 euro! I forgot to say that. So I added the 369EX after all. 8)

International shipping will be expensive most of the time. I couldn't get the tube sockets there. Instead I bought them on ebay (new) for the same price as a local supplier but including shipping. Saved me another 5E.

Yeah, I need some weird goodies right now and a 30 euro order from Farnell costs another 12 euro to ship to Spain so I am waiting till the weekend to do a 100 from Mouser, free shipping and better prices.
And you'll have to admit, I'll be rich as shit
I'll just sit and grin, the money will roll right in....

Wow, I was sure I checked that out.
Great News, there's a lot I always wanted from Mouser but thought I couldn't order without the tax hit. Cool, expect a flurry of mouser part number queries.

I don't think I'd ever do a €75 order anywhere: if I was spending that much I'd have to buy in such bulk that I could get it cheaper from asia... (Has to come just as far!)

Galego

Thanks for the info! This looks really interesting. I usually order from musikding.

Really? Why? I just received an order of about 300€ in parts. It's cheaper than ordering 50€ of parts each time you want to build something. Plan ahead and order stuff for a lot of builds, saves you money because some parts have a discount on quantity and you only have to pay shipping once.

Sockets, 3PDTs and power jacks: HK on ebay is cheapest;

everything else, tayda or futurlec; same money for me to order £20 at a time as to do a big order from mouser etc. I occasionally do a musikding order to get hold of awkward bits like Ge diodes or bitsbox if i need a few things since the postage is so low.

That doesn't work out any more expensive than ordering everything on mouser in one go... And I don't have €300. Not even nearly. Last time I spent that much, it was on a digital piano, not a parts order!

Pigyboy

I will give this once more only and you figure it out.
You want blue 3PDT cheap. (out of 100 I had problems with one)

Hi Jasper ,

What is the link for Mouser Germany . How did exactly did you order ?

In the past I ordered a few thing from America but this is great news that there's a supplier in Europe too !

I just went to www.mouser.com :). It automatically recognizes the Netherlands and shows all prices in euros. I just ordered directly from the site so I was kind of surprised that it arrived after 44 hours after ordering.
If for some reason it doesn't work on your computer, the url I see is http://nl.mouser.com/Home.aspx. You can change the country here: http://nl.mouser.com/localsites/.

Hopefully this isn't hi-jacking your thread, but whats it like for us Canadians?  Any problems with customs and is there a level where you get free shipping?

jasperoosthoek

;) nope. I just wanted to shout out: "Look how easy Mouser can be for orders from outside the US". I didn't know that and it looks like I was not the only one. I wouldn't have expected that it might even be easier and less of a hassle with customs for us Europeans than for Canadians!

Haven't had Mouser orders shipped to Canada in along time but here's their shipping info for Canada. http://ca.mouser.com/EstimateShipping/EstimateShipping.aspx

I do a great deal of ordering through Digikey and i really can't imagine a more hassle free system. Next  business day delivery, $8cdn. for orders under $200 and free for orders over $200. http://www.digikey.ca/

Thanks davent.

The crappy thing about digikey is they have no alpha pots.  All there pots are expencive.

That's where Small Bear comes into the picture. (You're in Canada, aren't you suppose to be using PEC pots, if only they were smaller.)

Not at ~$10 a pot.  Thats a little steep.  I will probably order from small bear for stuff like that.
