These look like a good place for a mod field day. Has any body done anything w/ one of there. One of the posts I read on these was from '07 from mark hammer.

I got one off the interweb a couple of years ago, but haven't modded it.  I keep thinking I will get around to breadboarding one of the channels, but haven't gotten to it yet.  I haven't seen anyone post mods for one.  They are cool to mess with, I like the midrange controls.   :icon_cool:

Five different distortions plus 3-band EQ and sweepable mids, and you want to mod it? :icon_eek: :icon_rolleyes:

Okay, there are several places where one can install a diode-lift toggle, just to hear what it does without the additional clipping.  For instance, the Distortion and Fuzz settings (#4 and #5) each have a diode-pair to ground.  You can install a toggle to make/break that connection for different sounds.

As well, looking at the schematic, you can see that after the EQ and Level cotrols, the signal appears to be fed to another op-amp stage with clipping diodes.  That may introduce a certain degree of compression that not everybody wants.  Finally, that output stage includes 4 poles of lowpass filtering.  Some folks may like the "wilder" sounds produced by bypassing that filtering.

Word of caution: this boxes are pretty packed, and not exactly hospitable towards easy disassembly and installing mods.  You may find that all the "inspiration" above leads you to a dead end because there's nowhere to install the toddles....even teeny ones.

Maybe over my head. I was thinking about improving some caps and playing w/ diodes. Not doing switching. The old post made it sound like you were going to try some things out. How did it go? Do you like it? What would be a good price?
