I'm looking at a couple of projects that use an LT1054 for voltage doubling (actually bipolar 18v). I've got some 1044's on hand and didn't know if they would be a direct-pin replacment for the L1054. Or, if there might be voltage issues between the two chips; i.e. one might have a better voltage range than the other, one is quieter than the other, etc.

Thanks,
Buck

The LT1054 has much higher current ability, so things that were designed for that chip may overheat a MAX1044, or the 1044 may just not be able to handle the circuit at all. Which circuits are you talking about specifically?

MetalGuy

LT1054 can handle up to 15V. MAX1044 will need to have pins 1 and 8 connected (if used for audio purposes) unlike LT1054.

Taylor

Right, MetalGuy alludes to but does not say explicitly that the MAX1044 can only handle 10v, which can be a problem if you're using an unregulated "9v" supply which puts out 12v or so.

Would the lt1054 drop into the geofex a/b/y with no problem?
