I'm no EE or even a tech, just a monkey with a soldering iron that can read, and follow instructions. ;D

It's sad to read this news.  RDV's contribution here wasn't just technical, but I really appreciated his attitude toward the subject, passionate about getting things working and crafting new sounds, but ultimately humorous, which is a good way for a rock musician to be.

That's really sad,  ricky's personality and sence of humor was something special, he was really helpfull and friendly as well.
I could tell he loved to play guitar, at least he died doing what he loved to do- still I wish he had more time before he was called to rock that great gig in the sky...
Rock on RDV!!!

It really is sad news. I only knew Ricky from this forum, but I have had a lots of help from him and really appreciated his style and humor.

My first vero-layout was Ricky's NPN Si Tonebender, still one of my favourites.

"Rick, your work is almost disgusting, it's so beautiful.  Meaning: it's so darned pretty that when I look at my own stuff, it makes me want to puke my guts out."

Here's a link to some music by a former band Ricky was in: http://www.myspace.com/theintentionband

Aron, would it make sense to make this thread a sticky?
"I can explain it to you, but I can't understand it for you."

Joe Hart

Wow. He helped me with some pedal stuff a couple of years ago. Like most people here, he was very kind and generous with his time and knowledge. Wow.

I just read a couple of interesting threads of Ricky's that DougH bumped. It's a strange feeling reading the words of a guy now lost to us, brought a lump to my throat actually. I haven't been around long enough to have had much direct discourse with Ricky, but I've often come across his posts when I've used the search function. There's a little corner of this forum that'll always be his. That's a good feeling.

brett

He was a character alright.  He built (and totally loved) an RM Axis, and his report started with this...

QuoteI used the schem at Fuzz Central and winged it on perf and fired up right off the bat with no de-bugging!
HAH!

You gotta love a funny, enthusiastic guy like RDV.  Sadly missed.

May he rest in peace.

And may I, too, be snatched away while on stage in the midst of music.

Goodbye Friend.

I can't say that I knew him personally, but I lived in Tampa for 12 years and worked at various clubs, record stores, Mars, GC, Ash, and a repair shop, I remember seeing him around and that he was always a very nice guy.

very sad news...maybe we should all start a new pedal, eventually using one of his layouts, sell it, and contribute to the cause...

i haven't been around very long to know ricky personally, but I always enjoyed the sense of humor that RDV brought to the table.  Rest in Peace.

The Tone God

RDV was one of the people that I joked around with quite a bit on the forum. He really helped keep the mode light and fun around here even when there was momentary tension among other members. This really saddens me.

One more hug for you buddy.

MartyMart

I have not been around for a while and was very saddened to see this.

I had several conversations with Ricky here and we sent each other some "goodies" a few times.

He was such a nice bloke and will be missed.

Just now seeing this myself - many a thread of mine got responses from RDV and I'm sorry to hear about this.

I just saw this.  What a bummer; he seemed like a great dude, and a hell of a guitar player.
