while you're choosing which amp to build (it may take a while  ) look for the Condor Cab Simulator at Runoffgroove. I like it very much, really turns your PC soundcard into an amp, there's also an option to switch to Marshall amp response. Quite easy to build, easy-to-find components, mine worked at first try (after I inserted the IC into the socket, that was 15 mins after I started debuggin it    )

Hi, so I've recorded a few sound clips of the Condor CabSim, I know there are plenty of them out there, but this one is done with "crappy" stuff, and still, IMO, can give you the feeling of how the cabsim can change the sound, I hope you can hear the difference as I hear them here "live".
Set up is, a more-than-crappy Strato clone with almost all strings rusty, into a Peavy Rage 158, from headphone out into Line-In of an MP3 player, and may be just a little bit of revb through a Roland DEP-3.

parts are : clean sound no Sim, then clean sound through Sim, then through an HighWay89 no Sim and through HighWay89 with Sim

"Pick" would be the word for playing a single string.
"Strum" would be the word for playing chords.

Single coils mostly have a resonant peak at approximately 4 Kilohertz.
Humbuckers are resonant at lower frequencies, depending on the winding and whether it is wired in parallel or series.
Parallel wired humbuckers are resonant at higher frequencies than the same pickup wired in series.

So generally, humbucker pickups can output more voltage and have a lower resonant peak than single-coils, which contributes much to the different sounds they make.

The amp is an old Peavy Rage 158 15W, not worth cloning it, I've heard it's about 40€ on ebay

yeah build it, very good specially for recording, even with something like a 386 or a 383 amp, and a car-radio speaker! word!

Yes, miners here use picks too, but the word can be used for both.
English is a funny language sometimes.
Pick is also used for the piece of plastic you play the guitar with, which is where it gets the usage from.
Maybe 'Plunk' was supposed to be 'Pluck'?
Pluck can be used as well as Pick to describe playing one note on a guitar, but it can also mean "pulling feathers from a chicken".
