I'm sure some of us are neatniks, to which this doesn't apply...
What they put up with for us...WoW, even I can barely fathom what I'm able to turn a blind eye toward.
Just sayin' if you get the opportunity, make it seem like it's not necessarily going to be forever and ever a mess for them. Especially for salvagers.
I'm sure I was in with the messiest ever possible DIY-tronic type.
No more salvaging of small-medium voltage junk, instead, I now have a cleared up room with swept off surfaces...whew...whattamessitwas.
It served it's purpose, even though I don't use most of the rows of pedals built from it.
For those who use many cables:
It pays to gently unplug all cables periodically, otherwise it is sorting spaghetti noodles one at a time, each from one end.
For those with unsorted, stacked boxes of junk:
Boxes of junk on a table in the daylight, with extra sort-category boxes fascilitates quicker junk-box sorting, that and a fresh box of trash bags and we're all set !
For those with neat, well kept workspaces, Kudos from Messking !

Convention creates following, following creates convention.

Pete, I wish you had taken pictures to share with us! I know I can get pretty messy by my standards, but John Lyon's workstation pic made me shudder in horror! i'd love to see what others call messy, because I'm pretty sure my messy looks like John's best clean!

(kidding John, nothing but respect from me because your builds are neater than I could ever do!)

QuoteEspecially for salvagers.
Yeah I'm going to have to get a handle on that. Life is too short.

I could qualify for an episode of "Hoarders".  I have actually lost track of what I have in some areas.  I have a collection of radios dating back to 1925, so you don't have to have many to junk up several rooms of the house.  Looks like I need to sort out some extra shelving just to make sense of all this stuff.

speakers, stereoes, booksbooksbooks, guitars guitars guitars,I generally have about 5-7 bins that end up as catch alls of guitar parts, screws, random junk... every once in a decade i'll sort through it all and organize it into a system... then watch helplessly as entropy and abscentmindedness have their way and return it to 5-7 bins of random paint, tools, junk parts boards...   :-\
i sometimes wish i would get robbed and i could be free...

o.k. o.k. thats a fictional address to protect the innocent...
