Hey - my 60s FF build is about done, but I've got one question about the resistors that Small Bear provides with their Ge transistors. My specific question is about R4. The original GGG ckt has R4 at 220 ohms and Small Bear says change it to 680.  But I read the following on an earlier related post "Leave it at 220 ohms. The combination of the 220 and the 1k contour pot replace the fuzz face resistor formerly known as "680 ohm"."

Can anyone pls confirm if this is correct?

Thanks for you assist,
Charles

you could probably do either.  the 1k pot actually gives you a range of resistance which more than covers the 680 that sbe recommends.  the "original" GGG Ge fuzz face has a 470 in R4 so you should be fine.  raising the value will only change the range of the contour knob...try it both ways and see which "range" you like more...

THanks I'll do that. I have the 680 in there now and I like the sound with the contour set pretty low.
