I'm looking for a specific pot to replace a broken knob in a POD 2.0.  It is an Alpha pot, B10K with PC mount pins.  It has a longer shaft than normal (about 1 inch, I don't have a ruler on hand), and the shaft has a flat top.  I'm trying to find where to buy this specific pot but no luck so far.  Does anyone know a part number for these?

The pins are at 90 degrees facing down, not out. The knob is not slotted, but smooth and round like normal 16mm Alpha pots you'd get at smallbear, except it has a flat top...like a semi circle.

Scruffie

Ohhh you mean a D Shaft at the top, I get ya, thought you just meant flat not split shaft, Sadly can't help still, try mailing the company to see if they can send a spare?

spargo

Here's a pic from above. From below, they look like normal 16mm alpha pots with the PC mount pins headed the same direction towards the top of the knob (you can see them soldered to the board).

Unfortunately, those were probably ordered from Alpha specifically for building these. You can probably find them somewhere however, they will not be easy due to their unique qualities (long D-shaft and pin orientation)

Looks like your part number is 3RP/1610N25C3B10K

Here is a link to the website . The 25 may be wrong. You will need to measure for that.

Also, this is ALPHA U.S.A. The pots in your unit may be ALPHA TAIWAN. But at least you have a start.

Looking at that Pot Govmnt_Lacky just posted... you could just bend the pins up on the type i posted before without hassle I imagine.

Good call Scruffie. As long as the pot shaft in the POD is 35mm long and the knob will fit on a fully-rounded shaft... looks like we have a winner at only $.75!!  ;D

Not a D-Shaft though, and no Log Types (Which I assume that is being a volume control going by the Silk Screen)  :icon_cry:

They do have the taper and value that is mentioned above. As long as the shaft length is a match, the worse he will have to do is find a knob that does not match the rest.  :icon_eek:

You're right, I didn't read the first post again. A Dremel could sort out the shaft shape as long as it is the right length.
However if from the pictures there like these knobs, problem solved - http://www.smallbearelec.com/Detail.bok?no=472

Hmm...the measurement from the top of the pot threads to the tip of the shaft is 18mm. Knobs I'm not concerned about as I already have some identical black knobs that will fit a round shaft. The knobs on the POD will NOT fit a round shaft, only the shape you see in the picture.

Scruffie, I'm not seeing any measurements or mfg part numbers on the page you gave. Looks like (if they're willing) I may also be able to contact a local Line 6 service center and see if they'll order a part for me.

Click the More Info Button:
Suits Most Standard knobs
Shaft Diameter: 5.5mm

Companies will usually send replacement parts out if you ask, aslong as there customer services department actually answer e-mails.

I am 99% sure that shaft length is measured INCLUDING the threaded area. You need to measure from the tip of the shaft to the base of the pot. (Why did that sound dirty? :icon_redface:)
You probably have a 25mm shaft length. Remeasure according to these specs and repost.

Edit: Even if the Futurlec pot id too long, for $.75 you can cut it down to required length. Just order 2 or 3 just in case.

It appears to be about 24mm...so given my error it very well could be 25mm.

Actually, I just bought a few of precisely the ones Spargo is describing a few weeks ago at my favourite Toronto store, Honson Electronics on College St.  I assume these are the ones with the little "grippy" pins protruding from the squarish chassis to grip the PCB better, and a black plastic shaft?  I paid a buck each there, and linear 10K was exactly what I bought..
