Boss pedal grounding

Years ago I bought two "brown series" Boss bass pedal (chorus + eq), from two different ebayers, I stuck them in my pedalboard into a true bypass loop and ever worked.

Yesterday I removed them for pedalboard to use them alone, powered them with a wall wart but no way to turn them on while no troubles if battery operated.

Today I open 'em and I see DC jack ground is not soldered with other grounds in both pedals.

They work if used along with my tb looper since it puts all grounds together.

I guess it was a smart way to avoid ground loops and I could easily fix it in both pedals soldering a wire from IN jack ground to DC jack ground.

The thing I can't understand is how has been able Roland to sell pedals in that years without having half customers complaining about brand-new not working devices... ???

I had to open it and remove from enclosure to understand it but what about people not so curious?
