hey everyone! its been a while, i've been out of the loop, but i'm back! and im back with a little project and some questions. first off, let me introduce you to the dub siren

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5OjB9KKY4Zw&feature=player_embedded

im looking to make something like this, its seems to be a very interesting oscilator/atari punk console-like device. i have found very little about the actual schematic, but i did find one schematic here...

http://www.interruptor.ch/dub_diysiren.shtml

i'm a little rusty with schematics since i havent done much in these recent months, but if anyone can help me out with this or maybe point me in the direction of a different schematic. better yet, if someone could find or make a wiring layout i would be willing to try it out and let you know how it works. any help is greatly appreciated. this looks like a great little circuit with a lot of mod capabilities!

peace!
mike

edit: i should clarify that the example in the video has additional modifications that won't be present in the schematic. like i said there are a lot of mods and variations on this circuit. a lot of potential.

I've used the UM3561 chip which is an all-in-one siren generator intended for children's toys, it has three types of siren available (ambulance/police/fire). It's not particularly hackable but you can use a 1M lin pot as a variable resistor between the oscillator pins to vary frequency. There's also a pin that you can use a momentary switch with to punch in bursts of machine gun fire!
Bringing you yesterday's technology tomorrow.

Here's a vero layout I made a while back, it's not the best as it's the first I ever made. It works for me anyway which is the important thing. Also it works prefectly fine with 9V rather than the ten marked on it.

If you have any problems shout away.

Here's some sample sounds from mine:

great stuff there! looks like exactly what im looking for. i did see a couple places online (including getlofi.com) that had a dub siren built out of a sound effects keychain, but i think i want to go for the 555 circuit. i'm sure thats the more authentic version.

and just for clarification those red squares with a red dot inside indicate trace cuts right? just checking.

i think ill swing over to radio shack and pick up some chips and a vero board!

thanks again!

Yeah they're trace cuts. Keep an eye out for cuts under D1 and C5.

I used the circuit you linked to in the first post btw.
